An effective ATS check puts your CV next to the ad you are applying for and points out which words are not there. Profiling Institut, Novorésumé, Enhancv, bewerbung.ai and CVDesignR (Premium only) do this; Die Bewerbungsschreiber’s check only sees if a parser can read the file right.
Profiling Institut and Die Bewerbungsschreiber finish with the outcome; Enhancv, Novorésumé (using AI credits), CVDesignR and bewerbung.ai (all via a paid plan) assist with rewriting. KILebenslauf then rewrites the CV for that specific ad inside the same editor.

KILebenslauf
By placing your CV beside the job ad, the ATS check from KILebenslauf highlights matching words, spots gaps, and counts how often the ad uses them, which suggests which skills are required rather than preferred. Then, working in that same editor, the AI rewrites the CV for that specific ad in minutes, drawing on the ad’s requirements and terms. The employer’s ATS then locates the ad’s requirements in your CV and can score it higher.

Can ChatGPT run an ATS check?
If you paste both your CV and an ad, it can compare them. However, it lacks a parser, meaning it cannot state what an ATS pulls from your PDF, and the same question leads to different answers.
KILebenslauf compares against the same advertisement on every occasion, notes which terms are absent, and subsequently edits the CV so that it fits. Perform the check a second time later to observe what is now included.

A parsing test run "with a real CV parsing tool" (its words), from a human application-writing service. Its guidance is based, by its own account, on tests with Textkernel.
Price: Check free once; professional CV from €119
Strengths
A CV parsing tool shows how software reads the file, not only which terms match.
A German service with a 25-person team.
Good explanations of parsing pitfalls such as columns and skill bars.
Limits
Free only once, and no match against the ad.
Your CV is uploaded to their server.
The actual product is a writing service from €119, provided in 1 to 4 working days.
Best for: Testing whether a finished design survives a parser, or people who would rather pay a human writer.
OpenAI’s standard chatbot. It isn’t a CV tool, but it is the option that plenty of people try first.
Price: Free; Go about €8 a month, Plus about €22 a month *
Strengths
Free to start and very flexible: any section, any tone, any language.
Paste the job ad and it writes text aimed at it.
Also helps with the cover letter and interview prep.
Limits
Without a parser, you won’t get an answer about what an ATS pulls from your PDF.
The score is not stable: asking the same question brings different answers, and it can be wrong with confidence.
It can invent skills that are not in your CV.
Best for: People who prompt well and will do the layout themselves.

How do I check whether my CV is ATS-friendly?
There are two things that matter: if the software reads the file right, and if the ad’s terms show up in it. Die Bewerbungsschreiber’s CV parsing check tests the reading, free one time; it points to columns and skill bars as common trouble spots.
Profiling Institut (no sign-up), Novorésumé, Enhancv, bewerbung.ai and KILebenslauf (one check with no account) match the CV to a job posting for free; CVDesignR performs this function in Premium only.
What does an ATS score tell me?
A score reveals the amount of the ad that a tool detects in your CV. Each tool has a unique counting method: Profiling Institut publishes its formula, Enhancv names 27 checks, CVDesignR shows the detailed score in Premium only. Matching keywords cannot assess content quality.
ChatGPT gives no stable figure, since the same question brings different answers. Instead of a single number, KILebenslauf lists the matching and missing terms and how often the ad uses each.
What do I do when the check marks terms as missing?
Put in every missing term you can honestly support, preferably in the role where you applied it. Omit anything you cannot back up.
At KILebenslauf the AI rewrites the CV for that ad in the same editor, relying solely on what is in your CV. Then you check again and see what is now covered.
When another tool fits better
–You do not want to upload your CV: Profiling Institut’s checker, which by its own account runs locally in the browser, free and with no sign-up.
–You only want to know whether a parser reads your design correctly: Die Bewerbungsschreiber, free once.
–You apply in English to international companies: Enhancv or Novorésumé, which both check against the ad and are built for English CVs.
When KILebenslauf fits
You do not want to rewrite the CV yourself after the check: the AI adapts it to the same ad in the same editor.
You want to tell must-have from nice-to-have skills: the check shows how often the ad uses each term.
You check again for every application: you end up with a tabular German CV as a PDF.
We searched Google Germany for the words people use ("lebenslauf erstellen", "lebenslauf mit ki erstellen", "lebenslauf check ats", "anschreiben mit ki", "jobbörse") and took the sites near the top, German before international. On 3 November 2026 we read each one’s pricing page and terms on its official site and took a screenshot. We created no accounts and used no "best sites" articles as a source. Where a site showed no price, the page says "price on their site". KILebenslauf is our own product, which is why it carries the label.
Frequently asked questions
What is an ATS?
Many employers rely on an applicant tracking system (Bewerbermanagementsystem) to collect and organise applications sent through their portal. This software scans the CV to see if it matches the job’s requirements. A CV that includes the ad’s wording can appear higher up on the list the recruiter views.
Is an ATS check enough on its own?
It points out the gaps while leaving the CV untouched. Next, you apply the edits yourself, or alternatively at KILebenslauf the AI handles them for the same ad.
