Kurz zusammengefasst

Catawiki is a global online marketplace that auctions more than 100,000 unique items each week, ranging from sports memorabilia to rare fossils and celebrity clothing. The company's in‑house experts curate every lot, and the Expert Tribal Art will join this team to focus on Southeast Asian, Oceanic or Americas Art & Antiques, helping Catawiki become the world's favourite destination for special objects. In this role you will evaluate objects for authenticity, age, attribution, condition, provenance and market relevance, and you will ensure that each auction meets the platform's trust and compliance standards. You will also build and nurture relationships with dealers, galleries, collectors and professional sellers across Europe and internationally, offering them guidance on estimates, reserve prices, timing and presentation to improve auction results. Using market insight and auction data you will spot growth opportunities, develop themed auctions and seller initiatives, and see projects through from concept to execution. Finally, you will share your specialist knowledge with colleagues to raise curation standards across the wider Asian & Tribal Art team. The position requires demonstrable specialist expertise in Southeast Asian, Oceanic or Americas Art & Antiques, plus solid knowledge of at least one related area. You must have professional experience in the art, antiques, auction, gallery, dealer, collecting, curatorial or online‑marketplace sector, with proven ability to assess authenticity, attribution, quality, condition and provenance. Strong research skills using specialist literature, archives, databases and auction records are essential, as is a good understanding of the European art and antiques market and auction dynamics. You need a commercial, proactive mindset, excellent written and verbal English communication, attention to detail, confidence with digital platforms and data tools, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross‑functional teams. Periodic travel is also required. Additional assets include expertise in African Art & Antiques, an established specialist network, fluency in other languages, or broader regional expertise. The role is Europe‑based and can be located in any of Catawiki's European offices, offering a flat structure, clear development plans, mentorship programmes and a diverse, inclusive culture of more than 800 employees from 60+ nationalities. What the role asks for: - Specialist expertise in Southeast Asian, Oceanic or Americas Art & Antiques - Professional experience in art, antiques, auction or related field - Strong research skills with specialist literature and databases - Good knowledge of European art and antiques market dynamics - Commercial, proactive approach to relationship building - Excellent written and verbal English communication - Ability to work independently and travel periodically - Nice‑to‑have: expertise in African Art & Antiques - Nice‑to‑have: established specialist network - Nice‑to‑have: additional language proficiency - Nice‑to‑have: broader regional expertise
