The Chief Quality Inspector will lead the definition and governance of inspection strategy for Isar Aerospace, a fast‑growing private company that builds rockets to provide sustainable launch services for small and medium‑size satellites. Acting as the independent authority on product conformity, the role shapes verification methods, acceptance criteria and competency standards so that every component meets the company's rigorous requirements throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. On a daily basis the inspector will design and own the inspection framework, set conformity assessment criteria and ensure objective evidence backs all acceptance decisions. Responsibilities include managing laboratory activities such as material testing, metallography, composite testing, calibration and failure investigations, as well as supporting process qualification by defining the necessary verification evidence. The role also drives quality‑at‑source practices across manufacturing, scales inspection resources and technologies for future demand, and maintains training, qualification and recertification programmes for inspectors. Close partnership with Manufacturing, Production Engineering, Product Assurance and Supplier Quality is required to resolve conformity issues and report performance to senior leadership. The position demands extensive experience in manufacturing quality, inspection or quality‑engineering leadership, with proven expertise in inspection methods, conformity assessment and verification planning. Candidates must understand incoming, in‑process and final inspection and release processes, and have led non‑destructive testing disciplines such as X‑Ray, CT, ultrasonic and dye‑penetrant inspection. A solid background in laboratory operations, materials testing, metallography, calibration systems and failure analysis is required, together with experience creating inspection standards, governance models and competency frameworks. The role calls for the ability to make objective conformity decisions based on technical evidence and risk assessment, strong leadership of multidisciplinary technical teams, and a track record of implementing scalable quality systems in fast‑growing manufacturing environments. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, problem‑solving, analytical skills and high attention to detail are essential, as is professional proficiency in English; German language skills are considered advantageous.
