The Senior Data Engineer role is based in Berlin and involves architecting data foundations for casual games, advanced analytics, and AI-driven workflows. The role requires bridging technical execution with strategy and proactively identifying opportunities to optimize and scale data transformation. The main responsibilities include designing and building resilient, scalable data infrastructure optimized for analytical workflows, feature stores, and real-time context delivery. This involves using Scala, Python, SQL, and dbt to build, maintain, and optimize robust batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines. The role also includes architecting clean, cost-efficient, and high-performance data schemes across cloud data warehouse platforms on Snowflake. Additionally, the Senior Data Engineer will use AI as a daily force multiplier across the data lifecycle, from design and documentation to testing, debugging, and incident triage. They will design, build, and operate agentic workflows with proper guardrails, evaluation, and observability. Implementing automated testing, observability, and monitoring frameworks to ensure high data reliability and low latency is also a key responsibility. The role requires following rigorous CI/CD practices, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform), version control, and clear documentation across all data assets. Collaboration with marketing managers, game teams, product managers, and data analysts to turn ambiguous business needs into high-impact data solutions is essential. To qualify for this role, candidates must have in-depth professional experience as a software engineer or data engineer, with a strong background in senior data engineering roles and advanced proficiency in Python and complex SQL. Deep professional experience in a strongly-typed language such as Scala, Java, or Go for building resilient data services is required. Practical experience with cloud data platforms (favorable Snowflake), dbt, and orchestration tools (Airflow) is also necessary. Hands-on experience applying AI tools in engineering work and building agentic workflows, including tool use or MCP integrations, orchestration, and evaluation, is crucial. Familiarity with Docker, Git, CI/CD, unit testing, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) is essential.
