Stripe Berlin is seeking a Staff Security Engineer, Abuse Control to lead the design, implementation and ongoing improvement of systems that detect, triage and mitigate fraudulent activity on its payments platform. You will work closely with product, data‑science and incident‑response teams, shaping the company's global risk posture while influencing product decisions that affect millions of merchants. Day‑to‑day you will define the technical roadmap for abuse control, build large‑scale data pipelines, apply modern detection techniques such as machine learning and rule‑based engines, and mentor senior engineers. The role also involves threat modelling, driving best‑in‑class security practices and collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders to embed security throughout the organization. What the role asks for: - 8+ years security engineering or fraud prevention experience - Deep expertise in threat modeling - Experience with large‑scale data pipelines - Proficiency in machine learning detection techniques - Proficiency in rule‑based detection engines - Strong programming skills in Python and Go - Proven ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders - Nice-to-have: experience mentoring senior engineers
