Kurz zusammengefasst

Focused Energy is a fast‑growing clean‑energy company developing laser‑driven inertial fusion to deliver commercial‑scale power. Backed by a $240 million Series A round, the firm operates in Germany and the United States and brings together leading scientists and engineers to scale its fusion technology worldwide. The Senior Accountant will act as the single point of accountability for technical accounting, month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close, and consolidation across the German and US entities. Daily work includes applying IFRS, US GAAP and German GAAP to complex accounting issues, managing close calendars, performing account reconciliations, handling intercompany transactions, executing eliminations and producing consolidated financial statements. The role also requires building and maintaining accounting policies, internal controls and audit‑ready documentation, while improving data flows and reconciliations across NetSuite, NetAssets, Moss and Ramp. In addition, the incumbent will design automated, scalable processes to reduce manual effort and enhance accuracy, and will communicate accounting decisions and risks to finance and business stakeholders. Candidates must bring at least seven years of professional accounting experience in an international, multi‑entity setting, with a proven record of owning the full close cycle and consolidation. A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a comparable qualification is required, together with deep technical knowledge of German GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP. The role demands hands‑on expertise with an ERP such as Oracle NetSuite (or a comparable system) and fluency in both English and German to collaborate across the two locations. The ideal person is detail‑oriented, proactive, able to make independent accounting judgments, and comfortable communicating technical topics in a changing startup environment. Nice‑to‑have attributes include a passion for innovative clean‑energy technology, the ability to thrive in a dynamic, international team of scientists and engineers, and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative culture that values ownership, career development and work‑life balance. The position is based in Darmstadt, Germany, offering a modern office with a canteen, 30 vacation days, stock‑option participation, a 20 % match on private pension contributions, flexible commuting support through NAVIT, fitness benefits via Wellhub, and fully equipped laptops and peripherals from day one. What the role asks for: - 7+ years professional accounting experience in multi‑entity environment - Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or comparable - Strong knowledge of German GAAP, IFRS and US GAAP - Proven ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual close processes - Experience with intercompany accounting, reconciliations and consolidation - Ability to make independent accounting judgments - Hands‑on ERP experience (Oracle NetSuite or comparable) - Fluent in English and German (professional level)
