Kurz zusammengefasst

AstraZeneca, a global biopharmaceutical leader focused on discovering and delivering prescription medicines, is expanding its Computational Pathology unit in Munich. The team builds regulated software components for data management, model training, inference and analysis tools that integrate into existing enterprise and clinical platforms. The role of Associate Director, DevOps & Software Engineering, will own the delivery infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, release processes, supply‑chain security and deployment environments, while also contributing as a senior developer within the engineering group. Day‑to‑day you will steer the evolution of a shared GitHub Actions platform, ensuring it remains maintainable, reliable and easy to adopt across many repositories. You will design multi‑environment delivery flows, manage container image publishing and deploy to platforms such as Kubeflow, Domino Data Lab and AWS services. Your responsibilities also include generating SBOMs, running vulnerability and license scans, and implementing static analysis, all while building a risk‑based triage process that can be defended in audits. As an active developer you will review Python pull requests, design and test new features, and coach colleagues from scientific backgrounds on sound software‑engineering practices. You will act as the technical liaison with central IT, cybersecurity, platform and quality teams, driving tool approvals, network and access requirements and reducing local workarounds. The position requires a degree in computer science, software engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience, together with at least seven years of industry experience. You must have substantial hands‑on ownership of CI/CD and release engineering for production software, deep expertise in GitHub Actions, and strong, idiomatic Python skills, including packaging and dependency management. Proficiency with Bash, containers, SBOM generation, vulnerability scanning and static analysis is essential, as is a proven record of delivering software in a GxP‑regulated or medical‑device environment and translating compliance needs into engineering processes. A proactive, can‑do attitude and the ability to unblock progress despite technical or organisational constraints are also required. Nice‑to‑have attributes include experience extending the CI/CD platform to non‑Python stacks, familiarity with enterprise‑wide cloud platforms and the ability to document and share knowledge to ensure the DevOps capability is not dependent on a single individual. The role is based in Munich, offering a spacious, sustainable office, after‑work events, lunch‑learns, family and childcare support, and easy access to the Alps for hiking, biking and skiing. You will join a small, collaborative team that values diversity and personal well‑being while working on high‑impact, regulated software for computational pathology. What the role asks for: - Degree in computer science, software engineering or related field - 7+ years industry experience with CI/CD ownership - Expert in GitHub Actions workflow design - Strong, idiomatic Python programming skills - Proficiency with Python packaging and dependency tools - Comfortable using Bash scripting - Hands‑on experience with containers and SBOM generation - Experience delivering software in GxP or medical‑device regulated environments - Nice‑to‑have: ability to extend CI/CD to other technology stacks - Nice‑to‑have: experience with Kubeflow, Domino Data Lab or AWS services
