Kurz zusammengefasst
Boeing Deutschland GmbH's Commercial Modifications team in Hamburg is seeking a Mid‑Level Seat Structures Engineer. The group operates under an EASA Part‑21J Design Organization Approval and focuses on interior retrofit projects for commercial aircraft, ranging from fire‑extinguisher replacements to full cabin tube‑strip installations. As the team expands across Germany, the role will support Boeing Commercial Airplanes by delivering certified seating solutions that meet customer expectations for safety, quality and performance. The engineer will lead certification activities for aircraft seating products, creating Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) that enable post‑delivery installation of new seats. Responsibilities include acting as Boeing's point of contact for stress, engineering and certification matters related to seat integration, performing analytical and finite‑element calculations, and conducting root‑cause analyses of structural failure modes. The role also requires compiling structural substantiation documents, reviewing supplier data for seat integration approval, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all seat types, including those with unique features, are delivered to the required standards. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in Stress, Structures, Mechanical, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering and bring at least five years of aerospace‑engineering experience, specifically in stress analysis, supplier integration and familiarity with the EASA Part‑21J certification process. A solid grasp of EASA airworthiness regulations, particularly CS‑25.561 and CS‑25.562 and their associated advisory circulars and acceptable means of compliance, is essential. Experience in seat development and certification, from concept definition through approval, including test witnessing, knowledge of ETSO performance standards (C127, C39 series) and the STC process for aircraft seats, is also required. Proficiency with key engineering tools such as ENOVIA, CATIA V5/V6, Altair HyperWorks and PATRAN/NASTRAN is mandatory. Additional attributes that will strengthen an application include the ability to manage multiple programs with varying requirements, a willingness to mentor and coach less‑experienced staff, strong attention to detail when certifying novel seat features such as pre‑tensioners and airbags, and proven collaboration skills with suppliers and customers. The position offers a supportive environment within a small, cross‑functional team that values fast decision‑making, experimentation and mentorship, while also providing the resources of a large enterprise. Boeing provides a comprehensive benefits package in Germany, featuring 32 vacation days plus paid personal time off for life events, a monthly meal allowance of €115, a €50 transport credit for various mobility options, a robust pension plan, life and disability insurance, global travel medical coverage, and career‑development funding through the Learning Together program. The role is based in Hamburg, does not require relocation assistance, visa sponsorship, security clearance or shift work, and candidates must pass a Conflict of Interest assessment. What the role asks for: - Bachelor's degree in Stress/Structures/Mechanical or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering - 5+ years aerospace engineering experience (stress analysis, supplier integration, EASA Part‑21J) - Knowledge of EASA CS‑25.561 and CS‑25.562 regulations and related ACs/AMCs - Experience in seat development and certification, test witnessing, ETSO C127/C39 standards - Proficiency with ENOVIA, CATIA V5/V6, Altair HyperWorks, PATRAN/NASTRAN - Ability to manage multiple programs (nice‑to‑have) - Willingness to mentor and coach less experienced staff (nice‑to‑have) - Strong attention to detail for novel seat features (nice‑to‑have) - Effective collaboration with suppliers and customers (nice‑to‑have)
