Peec AI is an AI‑search platform that helps marketing teams understand how their brands are discovered, represented and recommended across AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. Since its launch in early 2025 the company has grown to over $20 million ARR and serves more than 4,000 paying customers. Headquartered in Berlin with an office in New York, Peec AI is a Series A startup backed by 20VC and Singular, employing over a hundred people. The Head of Data Science will lead the data‑science function, reporting directly to the CTO, and will be responsible for turning the massive flow of AI‑generated answers into trustworthy, actionable metrics for customers. The day‑to‑day role involves hiring, onboarding and developing a growing team of data scientists, establishing a culture of high quality, ownership and kindness, and providing regular 1:1 coaching and clear career paths. You will set the technical direction and roadmap in partnership with product and engineering leaders, decide which projects the team pursues, and ensure production quality through rigorous operational excellence and reproducibility across the ML lifecycle. Hands‑on work includes reviewing designs and code, stepping in when needed, and representing data science to both internal leadership and external customers. Candidates must bring at least eight years of experience in data science or machine learning, with a minimum of three years managing data scientists or ML engineers, preferably in a high‑growth startup or established tech firm. A proven record of building strong teams, hiring, developing talent and establishing effective standards, is essential. You should have taken ML products from research to production, implementing evaluation, monitoring and reproducibility practices. Deep knowledge of large language models, measurement and statistics for noisy outputs, and the ability to assess architecture and modeling decisions in cloud‑native environments (GCP experience is a plus) are required. Clear communication with executives, engineers and customers, honesty about uncertainty, and sound judgment under ambiguity are also mandatory. Nice‑to‑have attributes include contributions to open‑source projects or ML tooling, public research or side projects that demonstrate technical depth, publications or conference talks in the ML/AI space, and founder or senior technical leadership experience at a high‑growth startup. Familiarity with Peec AI's stack, standard Python and SQL on GCP, and integration with major LLM providers, will help you hit the ground running.
