The (Senior) Design Engineer will join Isar Aerospace's system integration team, contributing to the development of the company's orbital launch vehicle. The role focuses on the design, qualification, and integration of fluid‑related hardware such as high‑pressure and cryogenic piping, manifolds, fittings, storage units, and their supporting structures. Working closely with a passionate, cross‑functional group of engineers, the position helps turn early concepts into flight‑ready components and ensures they fit seamlessly into the global launch‑vehicle assembly. Day‑to‑day activities include creating detailed fluid‑hardware designs, defining and documenting test plans, and overseeing test execution. The engineer will manage engineering change requests, integrate designs into larger assemblies, and develop product requirement and verification specifications. Additional responsibilities involve preparing road‑maps and timelines, leading design reviews, conducting risk assessments and trade‑off studies, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders such as production, assembly, and other engineering departments. Effective interface management is essential to keep development on schedule and maintain product integrity. The minimum qualifications require a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or a related field and at least two years of experience in hardware design and development. Candidates must be proficient with design tools like NX, TeamCenter, SolidWorks, or comparable software, and have experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) and product data management (PDM). A solid understanding of various manufacturing methods, including milling, turning, metal‑sheet, composite, and additive processes, is expected, as is familiarity with standards such as DIN, EN, ISO, AN/AS, and LN. Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is required, together with a results‑oriented mindset, the ability to meet project deadlines, resilience under pressure, high organization, proactive attention to detail, and fluent English communication skills. Preferred, but not mandatory, skills include experience in launch‑vehicle design, manufacturing, or assembly of structural and fluid systems, as well as aerospace hydraulic component design. General aerospace or aviation hardware design knowledge, familiarity with fabrication and integration processes for tubes, piping, and machined parts, and hands‑on production or assembly experience are valued. Proficiency in German and an understanding of lean production principles are also considered advantageous.
