Kurz zusammengefasst
The Manager Structures Design will lead the creation and development of launch‑vehicle structural hardware for Isar Aerospace, a fast‑growing private company that builds modern, sustainable rockets to provide low‑cost access to space for small and medium‑size satellites. As the primary technical authority for structural design, the manager coordinates a multidisciplinary team of design engineers and works closely with analysis, loads, mechanisms, manufacturing, materials, assembly‑integration‑test, and systems engineering to deliver primary and secondary structures from concept through flight qualification and operational support. Day‑to‑day duties include defining the structural architecture and load‑path concepts for components such as propellant tanks, interstages, thrust structures, payload adapters, fairings, engine supports, avionics structures, and ground‑handling hardware. The role drives design trades to optimise mass, stiffness, manufacturability and cost, ensures that designs meet vehicle‑level requirements and interface definitions, and pushes design maturity through all development phases. The manager also oversees the production of detailed CAD models and engineering drawings, establishes model‑based design standards where appropriate, and guarantees configuration‑management compliance. In addition, the manager is responsible for team capacity planning, time‑management oversight, hiring, onboarding, succession planning, performance reviews, and alignment of the team roadmap with company strategy, working closely with an HR Business Partner on compliance and talent development. The position requires a university degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical or Computational Mechanics or a related field, and at least eight years of aerospace experience focused on structural design and development. Candidates must have three or more years of experience leading a hardware development team, demonstrate high independence in assessing and trading design risks, and possess a holistic view of system development. Strong organisational, communication and detail‑orientation skills are essential, as is fluency in English. Proficiency with Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Siemens SimCenter and Siemens TeamCenter is also required. Desirable experience includes prior work on launch‑vehicle development and German language skills. The role is based in Germany, offering a comprehensive benefits package that features a virtual employee share program, 30 days of vacation, a company pension with a 20 % employer contribution after probation, subsidised lunches, rental work clothing with laundry service, sport‑club memberships, an individual learning allowance, childcare support, and a flexible mobility budget (including a fully financed Deutschlandticket, JobRad leasing, FINN JobAuto or fuel allowance). The environment is fast‑paced, innovative and focused on democratising space for the benefit of humanity. What the role asks for: - Degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical or Computational Mechanics - 8+ years aerospace structural design experience - 3+ years leading hardware development teams - High independence in design‑risk assessment - Strong organisational and communication skills - Fluent English proficiency - Experience with Siemens NX, SolidWorks, SimCenter, TeamCenter - Nice‑to‑have launch‑vehicle development experience - Nice‑to‑have German language skills
