Uncountable Engineering is looking for an LLM Applications Engineer to help turn its platform into an AI‑first research and development ecosystem. The company builds next‑generation tools that let scientists at Fortune 500 firms speed up discovery using generative AI, and the engineer will shape the core LLM infrastructure that powers those tools. The day‑to‑day work centers on designing, building, and scaling the LLM back‑end and the AI‑driven user interface of the Uncountable Web Platform. You will create intuitive UI components that let researchers query, analyse, and visualise complex experimental data, and you will integrate large‑language‑model capabilities with the platform's SQL databases and analysis engines to deliver accurate, grounded responses. The role also involves API design, asynchronous processing, and performance optimisation across both the Flask‑based Python backend and the React‑TypeScript frontend. To be considered, candidates must have at least two years of software development experience focused on full‑stack web applications. They need proven hands‑on work with LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Haystack, and must be proficient in Python as well as JavaScript/TypeScript. A solid foundation in engineering fundamentals, including API design, async processing, and performance tuning, is required. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred, along with experience evaluating LLM outputs to reduce hallucinations in scientific contexts, and familiarity with SQL query optimisation for prompt context. Nice‑to‑have attributes include a product‑first mindset that prioritises seamless "LLM‑first" experiences, and a genuine enthusiasm for building AI‑centric features rather than retrofitting them. The position is hybrid, offering a competitive salary of $125 K, $160 K plus equity, health and dental coverage, and a 401(k) with employer contributions.
