Kurz zusammengefasst
The Telecom Lead Engineer role sits within GE Vernova's Grid Solutions division, where the team designs and integrates the communication backbone for high‑voltage direct current (HVDC) and alternating current (AC) substation projects. The position is a hands‑on engineering function that blends deep knowledge of local and wide‑area networks with the ability to coordinate suppliers, customers and internal groups to deliver reliable, secure data and control links for critical power infrastructure. On a daily basis you will lead the integration of network components for large‑scale turnkey substation projects, steering design through delivery and managing supplier contributions. You will own the in‑house network design, conduct design reviews and interface alignment sessions, and challenge supplier proposals with structured technical queries. The role also requires you to evaluate redundancy protocols, routing configurations and high‑availability architectures to meet strict performance and reliability targets, while mentoring less‑experienced colleagues to raise overall team capability. The employer seeks a telecom or network engineer with solid hands‑on experience in industrial or critical‑infrastructure settings. A formal engineering, computer‑science or telecommunications degree is a plus, but the focus is on proven professional achievements. Required technical expertise includes working with Cisco ASR 903 and IE9X platforms, advanced MPLS L3VPN configuration (LDP, RSVP‑TE), DWDM/optical component knowledge, and expert‑level VLAN, sub‑interface and VRF setup for multi‑tenant environments. You must have a track record configuring high‑availability features such as BFD, HSRP/VRRP and MPLS Fast Reroute, as well as deep proficiency in BGP (including MP‑BGP) and IGPs (OSPF or IS‑IS). Experience with automation or scripting tools, particularly Python, network monitoring and packet capture (e.g., Wireshark), and industrial networking protocols (PRP, RSTP, NTP, PTP, IEC 104/61850) is also required. Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCDE, CCIE) are valued but not mandatory if equivalent practical experience is demonstrated. GE Vernova offers competitive benefits, relocation assistance is not provided, and the company emphasizes continuous learning and clear growth pathways within a global organization at the forefront of the energy transition. The role is based where GE Vernova operates, allowing you to work on some of the world's most complex substation projects while collaborating with a diverse, high‑performing team. What the role asks for: - Hands‑on telecom/network engineering experience in industrial/critical infrastructure - Experience with Cisco ASR 903 / IE9X platforms - Advanced MPLS L3VPN configuration (LDP, RSVP‑TE) - Practical DWDM/optical component knowledge - Expert VLAN, sub‑interface and VRF configuration - Proven configuration of BFD, HSRP/VRRP, MPLS Fast Reroute - Deep proficiency in BGP (MP‑BGP) and OSPF or IS‑IS - Automation/scripting experience, preferably Python - Use of Wireshark or similar packet capture tools - Knowledge of industrial protocols PRP, RSTP, NTP, PTP and IEC 104/61850 - Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCDE, CCIE), nice to have - Formal engineering/CS/Telecom degree, nice to have
