Kurz zusammengefasst

APM Terminals, a worldwide leader in port and terminal operations, is seeking a Site Environmental Advisor to join the North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven (NTB) Transformation Project. The role is based onsite in Bremerhaven, Germany, and focuses on providing day‑to‑day environmental and health‑, safety‑, security‑ and environment (HSSE) oversight throughout construction and commissioning phases. The advisor will ensure that all activities meet German and EU environmental legislation, permit conditions, and the specific requirements of this large‑scale modernization programme. On a daily basis the advisor will monitor compliance with environmental permits and project‑specific standards, carry out routine inspections, and flag risks, non‑conformities, and improvement opportunities. They will review contractor environmental management plans and risk assessments, verify that mitigation measures are applied, and investigate any incidents, spills, complaints or near‑misses. The role also includes tracking performance across waste handling, pollution prevention, biodiversity, water quality, air emissions, dust, vibration and soil protection, while maintaining registers, inspection reports, audit records and weekly performance reports. Supporting the HSSE Manager, the advisor will help raise environmental awareness and ensure contractor assurance throughout the project. The position requires a solid background in environmental management within construction, infrastructure, industrial, energy or port projects. Candidates must have five to ten years of relevant experience, a strong grasp of German and EU environmental law, permitting processes and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and proven ability to conduct audits, incident investigations and root‑cause analyses. Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills are essential for working with contractors, regulators and multidisciplinary teams. A bachelor's or master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Ecology, Chemistry or a related field is mandatory. Additional assets include a continuous‑improvement mindset and leadership qualities that align with APM Terminals' customer‑first, integrity‑driven culture. While not compulsory, an ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification is highly desirable and would strengthen the candidate's profile. The role offers exposure to a multinational environment, the chance to develop expertise in large‑scale infrastructure projects, and a career path within a global organisation committed to lean principles, learning and sustainable operations. What the role asks for: - 5–10 years environmental management experience in construction or similar projects - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering or related discipline - Strong knowledge of German and EU environmental legislation - Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems - Proven ability to conduct environmental audits and incident investigations - Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills - ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification (highly desirable)
