Tide's engineering team is spread across several technology hubs, including a central office in London and a large development centre in Hyderabad, where the new VP of Engineering, Ongoing Monitoring will be based. The VP will own the engineering vision and delivery for Tide's Ongoing Monitoring platform, which safeguards every transaction by spotting fraud, financial crime and regulatory breaches. Responsibilities include defining strategy for real‑time transaction monitoring, anti‑money‑laundering checks, sanctions screening and the tools used by financial investigators. The role oversees backend, frontend, data‑science, ML‑engineering and analytics squads, manages the Decision Engine and Decision Intelligence Platform, and directs the full model lifecycle, from development and back‑testing to staged roll‑out and live performance monitoring. In addition, the leader will expand agentic AI within regulated workflows, ensure governance, and drive measurable outcomes such as lower fraud losses, higher automated alert throughput and reduced monitoring cost per member. The ideal candidate must have a proven background leading engineering organisations that focus on fraud, financial crime, risk or other real‑time decision‑making domains. A strong record of converting platform investments into clear, quantifiable results in fraud detection, cost reduction and workflow automation is essential. Experience taking machine‑learning models from research into production at scale, and taking responsibility for their ongoing performance, is required. The role also demands familiarity with regulated environments, including collaboration with second‑line risk, compliance teams and external regulators. Candidates need solid judgement on organisational design, delivery processes, platform strategy, data architecture and overall technical quality, as well as the ability to steer distributed, multi‑market teams toward a unified roadmap and operating model. A bonus would be experience deploying AI or agentic systems inside regulated workflows, with an emphasis on governance, evaluation and human oversight. The position reports directly to the Chief Data and Technology Officer and works closely with risk, operations, design, product and engineering stakeholders.
