Covestro, a global leader in chemical material solutions, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee its large‑scale international CAPEX projects in the chemical industry. The role involves full responsibility for capital investment programmes of €200 million and above, guiding them from concept through to commissioning across Covestro's worldwide production sites. On a daily basis you will manage the entire project lifecycle: develop concepts, steer engineering, handle permitting, direct procurement, supervise construction and lead commissioning activities. You will head multidisciplinary, international project teams and coordinate external EPCM contractors and other service providers. The position also requires you to devise execution and contracting strategies, control costs and schedules, identify and mitigate risks, and act as the primary liaison for business owners, senior management and technical functions. Additionally, you will contribute to the improvement of global technical standards, project‑management practices and safety and quality processes, and for German sites you will assume construction‑management duties under local building regulations when qualified. The ideal candidate holds a university degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a comparable discipline and brings at least 15 years of relevant experience in the chemical sector, including a minimum of ten years managing large‑scale industrial CAPEX projects. Proven success in delivering projects valued at €200 million or more, extensive hands‑on experience with external EPCM contractors, and deep knowledge of the full chemical‑plant project lifecycle are mandatory. Strong leadership and communication abilities are essential, as is fluency in English and German. The role demands willingness to relocate internationally for extended assignments of three to five years.
